Spam - we all hate it, there is nothing in the world worse than email clogging our inbox sent by automated bots that crawl our websites and fill our forms, honestly meaningless fake email addresses, gibberish for names, useless random number sequences for phone numbers and messages that have nothing to do with you, your interests, or your business. It's about time that Point2 caught up with the rest of the online form world and implimented a Captcha system, their choice of utilizing the free service of reCAPTCHA seems to be of solid logic, it's recognizable, easy to use, effect and been around for quite some time - our only critisizm why so long? and why disabled by default?

We've been using captcha systems including reCAPTCHA in custom quick contact forms of our clients for some time now including custom forms we've embedded into clients Point2 websites, the beauty of Captcha is simply that they verify that the form is being filled out by a real person who's viewing your page or profile, and is contacting you specifically because they are interested in your services, and expertise or they are offering a service or expertise that is in fact pertinent to your industry.

This means that all the meaningless junk is gone, while those of us who do market directly to real estate agents via visiting their forms and manually entering our contact info and messages will still be able to do so.

Here are Point2's instructions on how to activate this feature:

To change site spam settings:

  1. Log in to your Online Office and go to Edit Website.
  2. Click the Settings and Disclaimers tab.
  3. Choose Change Site Spam Settings.
  4. To turn CAPTCHA on or off check the box.
  5. Your page will refresh and your new CAPTCHA spam settings will be set.

I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught.
